Whether you want to get a work permit or need to apply for a driver’s license in Chiang Mai, a medical certificate, locally known as a health certificate, is needed in order to obtain either of them. Some insurance companies also list a medical certificate as one of the requirements when applying for insurance.

Fortunately, obtaining a medical certificate in Chiang Mai is not rocket science. The process is relatively low-priced and fast but the medical checkup itself is still thorough at the same time.

What is a medical certificate?

Generally speaking, a medical certificate is a written statement from a health care provider that serves as evidence of health. In addition to certifying someone’s state of health, the certificate also confirms whether the person is free of contagious or infectious disease or whether the person has other health issues.

Medical certificates are required in Chiang Mai, especially if you plan to work here as you will therefore be required to apply for a work permit. Whenever you are applying for, or renewing, your work permit you have to get an up to date new medical certificate.

How to get a medical certificate?

Getting a medical certificate is a straight-forward, time-efficient process.

The first step is simply visiting our clinic and brings your original passport. You can set up an appointment first but in general a walk-in service will suffice and, typically, you do not have to wait in a long queue.

On average, the process of obtaining a medical certificate should only take around 15 to 40 minutes, depending on the type of medical certificate.

Your medical certificate will include the results of each test that you have taken, the date of when the medical certificate is issued, and its validity period. Your physician’s signature might be included depending on the type of the certificate.
